Settings & privacy

The extension's settings page and popup, what it keeps in your browser, what it reads from FACEIT, and what it sends to Prefire - and when.

Where the settings are

  • The toolbar popup: click Prefire's icon beside your browser's address bar. It has Pause automations, What the automations did, a switch for each part of the extension, and All settings.
  • The settings page: All settings in the popup, or Prefire's options from your browser's extensions page. Every part of the extension is there, in a sidebar under two headings. Extension holds General, Prefire study and Help; FACEIT files the rest by where on FACEIT it acts - Right sidebar, Player profile, Match room, Party invite, Match ready and Blocklist & watch list. Pick a section on the left and its settings are beside it, with a breadcrumb over them saying where you are; each setting is a card of its own - its name, a line that says what it does, its switch at the right-hand end, and its options under it.

The popup and the settings page follow your browser's language, English or Portuguese. In the match room, the extension follows FACEIT's language.

If something from FACEIT doesn't show up, turn on Show Prefire debug info, under Diagnostics. The page's console (F12) then says which of FACEIT's answers or page parts Prefire couldn't read. It never names a player.

What stays in your browser

Everything below is kept by your browser. Removing the extension deletes it.

  • Your settings: which features are on, their options, and the automations' pause. If your browser syncs extension settings, it copies them to your other computers signed in to the same browser account, as it does for any extension.
  • Your blocklists: each player's FACEIT id and nickname and the weight you gave them. They're kept with your settings, so your browser's sync copies them too - that's how they follow you.
  • Your watch list: the players' FACEIT ids, nicknames and picture addresses, on this computer only.
  • What the blocklist tools have seen: which FACEIT blocks Prefire made itself, the limit FACEIT refused a block at, when a player on your lists was last seen in a match and FACEIT's own finishing time for it, and the matchmaking panel as it last looked (for a day at most), so it draws at once next time.
  • Your party list: the FACEIT nicknames you type for Accept party invites.
  • What the automations did: the last 20 things, with the time and at most a map's or a server location's name, never a player's.
  • Your own Elo, as FACEIT last showed it, for two days, to show your session. Nobody else's.
  • The last 20 demos it handled, shown in the popup.
  • Until you close the browser: what FACEIT answered for a few minutes, so the next room with the same players asks for less, and which of your tabs are match rooms.

What it reads from FACEIT

The match room stats, the team summary, your progress and profile stats come from FACEIT's own web API. The extension asks for them in your browser, with your own FACEIT sign-in: the same requests FACEIT's site makes, at a person's pace (up to 25 for a whole room). None of it is sent to Prefire. The automations and focus mode read only FACEIT's page, and send nothing anywhere.

What goes to Prefire, and when

Only while you're signed in at prefireapp.com/web:

  • the match id of a match room you open, so prefireapp.com/web can show you that room. Prefire keeps it for three minutes after the last time the extension said you were there. Turn it off with Show my match room on prefireapp.com;
  • the FACEIT id of a player whose Study you press, and the room's map;
  • the link of a demo you send with FACEIT's Watch demo: Prefire's server downloads the demo with it and reads it;
  • your blocklists and your watch list, so you can manage them in the web app: each list's name, and each player's FACEIT id, nickname, weight and picture address. Never what any of them is doing. Stop keeping this on Prefire, on the web app's Watch list page, deletes Prefire's copy of your watch list;
  • your own last 30 matches' summary, for the web app's first page: win rate, K/D, FACEIT's Rating and Swing, and the Elo of each match. Only yours, at most every 15 minutes, and only when it has changed.

What FACEIT says about other players - their stats, whether they're in a match - is never sent. Signed out, nothing is sent to Prefire at all. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Privacy has the whole policy.

What your browser asks you

When you add it, your browser lists what it can do: read and change your data on www.faceit.com and on prefireapp.com, and manage your downloads (for the demo study's Watch demo).

Firefox also lists the data that can leave the browser for the demo study: your Prefire sign-in, the match rooms you open and the Study buttons you press.

Show notifications is asked for only when you tick Accept matches' Show a browser notification or turn on Watch notifications, and given back when you untick it.

In Firefox, Clipboard access is asked for the same way, for Copy server details' Also copy when FACEIT's tab isn't focused.
