Browser extension

Prefire's browser extension is a free companion for FACEIT: every player's stats in the match room, automations that stay off until you turn them on, and focus mode. It also connects FACEIT to Prefire's demo study, the paid part. It runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox.

What it does

Free, and read from FACEIT in your browser with your own FACEIT sign-in:

• Match room stats: every player's FACEIT Rating, Swing and last 30 matches inside their card, a map-by-map matrix, both teams' averages and chance to win at the top of each column, the Elo at stake for you, and any profile's last 30 - in FACEIT's own colours, in the page rather than over it.
• Automations: accept matches and party invites, connect, your map veto and the server's connect command. Every one is off until you turn it on, and Pause automations stops them all.
• Focus mode: hides the match room's chat, ads and promotions while you play.
• Blocklist & watch list: lists of players to keep blocked, rotated while you queue (it starts as a dry run), a watch list, Block and Watch in one click, and your lists in the web app.

And for Prefire's demo study (a free trial, then the Solo plan):

• Study, on every player in the match room. Open a match room and a small Prefire badge appears on the corner of each player's avatar, on both teams. Hover it, or reach it with the Tab key, and it opens into Study. Press it and Prefire opens that player's study on the room's map, read from their last three matches there, so you can see how they play it before the match starts.
• When you click Watch demo in a FACEIT match room, it takes the link FACEIT just made and gives it to Prefire, and stops the browser's own download: the demo goes to Prefire, not to your Downloads folder. FACEIT's links last about five minutes, which is why the extension catches it the moment you click. Only that click counts: every other download is left alone - a demo you save any other way, and a download your browser brings back when it opens, included.
• It never clicks Watch demo for you. FACEIT checks that a person clicked it, so that click is always yours.
• The players it puts Study on, and the map, come from FACEIT's own answer about the room, read in your browser with your own FACEIT sign-in. Nothing is asked of Prefire until you press Study. The badges float over the avatars, so nothing in the room moves.

Study a player from the match room

You need to be signed in at prefireapp.com/web for this, with a trial or a plan. Signed out, the badges are still there, the room shows one small note saying how to sign in, and pressing Study asks you to.

1. Open your match room on FACEIT. The Study badges appear as soon as FACEIT has answered with the room.
2. Press Study on anyone, on either team.
3. Prefire looks for their last three matches on this room's map, going back through their recent games, and opens their study in a new tab.
4. Behind the study, the extension opens the room of each of those matches Prefire hasn't read yet, with FACEIT's own Watch demo button highlighted. Press it in each: the demo goes to Prefire, and the room closes itself. The study is drawn once all three are read.
5. What is happening stays on that player's card: the badge reads Finding their last matches on Mirage…, then Study open · fetching 2 more matches, or Study open · 3 of 3 matches read. Anything that takes more words opens a small note under the badge, which you can dismiss.

Before the map is picked, pressing Study offers the map pool under the badge instead, so you can get a head start on the map you think you'll play. Once the veto is over, the badge uses the map that was picked.

If Prefire finds nothing, it says so: FACEIT keeps a demo for about a month, so a player who hasn't played this map recently has nothing to study.

If the badges don't appear on the cards - FACEIT changes its pages now and then - a small Prefire button shows up at the bottom of the room instead, clear of FACEIT's own menu and chat; click it for both rosters with the same Study buttons.

Study a player from your match room walks through it, with every note the room can show.

Set it up

The extension is Prefire, and it's free (its versions before 1.0 are called Prefire Demo Bridge).

Chrome or Brave: open Prefire in the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.

Edge: open Prefire in the Chrome Web Store. Edge asks to allow extensions from other stores: allow it, then click the store's add button and Add extension.

Firefox (140 or later): open Prefire on Firefox Add-ons and click Add to Firefox, then Add. Firefox lists what the extension can do and the data it can send (see Permissions, in plain words).

The store keeps it up to date from then on.

Signed in at prefireapp.com/web in a browser without it, the web app asks you to add it: Add the extension opens its store page, and Continue without it lets you carry on; it asks again after 30 days. A page that was open while you added it can't see it yet, so reload it: the header then says Extension connected. If it still asks after a reload, check on your browser's extensions page that the extension is turned on and allowed to run on prefireapp.com.

Permissions, in plain words

What your browser shows when you add Prefire, and why:

Firefox also asks for the clipboard, only if you tick Copy server details' Also copy when FACEIT's tab isn't focused.

It never reads your other tabs, your browsing history or your passwords, and it has no access to any other site. Settings & privacy says what it keeps and what it sends.

Pause the automations

Every automation is off until you turn it on. To stop the ones you did, all at once: click Prefire's icon in your browser's toolbar and switch on Pause automations. They stop in every tab straight away, and stay paused until you switch it off again. To turn one off for good, switch it off on the settings page (All settings). Automations has the details.

Where a demo goes

When you click Watch demo, and you're signed in at prefireapp.com/web in the same browser, the extension sends the demo's link to Prefire's server and stops the browser's own download. The server fetches the demo, and the match opens in a new tab. A room a study opened says the study adds the match, and closes itself instead.

When Prefire can't take it - you're signed out, or the server turned it down - the browser's download is stopped too and nothing is saved on your PC. The match room says why, with Send to Prefire again and Download it to this PC, which saves the demo to your Downloads folder while FACEIT's link still works (about five minutes). You can drop a demo saved there on the web app's home page.

The extension picks up your web sign-in on its own when you visit prefireapp.com/web signed in. Its popup says Signed in for the web study, and has Sign out of the extension.

To keep a copy in your Downloads folder every time Prefire can't take a demo, tick Keep a copy in Downloads when Prefire can't take it in the extension's popup.

What the room says

A card in the match room says what became of the demo.
