Prefire reads the demo of your opponent's last match on the map you're about to play, and shows you how they play it: where they spend their time, the grenades they throw, where they get their kills and what they buy when their team is short on money. You study it before the match, in a window of its own. It never touches the game.
What you need
- A CS2 match demo, a
.demfile. FACEIT's Watch demo button in a match room gives you one, and so does any demo you've downloaded yourself. - A Windows 10 or 11 PC for the Windows app.
- A FACEIT account, if you want Prefire to find an opponent's last match for you.
Or just a browser: the web app does the same study at prefireapp.com/web.

- The web app, at prefireapp.com/web. Nothing to install, and your history and saved lineups follow your account. See Web app.
- The Windows app, installed on your PC. It reads the demo right there. See Windows app.
- The browser extension, which sends a demo from FACEIT's Watch demo button straight to Prefire. See Browser extension.
Your first study
- Get a demo: open a FACEIT match room and click Watch demo, or use a
.demfile you already have. - Drop it on the Prefire window.
- Pick a player. Start with the one who holds the site you like taking.
- Go through the five views: Positions, Top HEs, Top flashes, Kill spots and Force buys.
In the web app, drop it on Drop a demo here instead. It waits its turn in a short queue, then opens on the match, and you pick the player there.
The five views explained says what each view shows and how it's worked out. How it works follows a demo from the match room to your screen.
Prefire only reads demo files, which are recordings of matches that are already over. It doesn't attach to Counter-Strike 2, read it or draw over it.
