FACEIT lets you keep only a few matchmaking blocks. Prefire lets you keep longer lists, keeps the players you care most about blocked, and can swap them while you queue. It also follows the players you choose. All of it is free.
Your blocklists
A blocklist is a list of FACEIT players you'd rather not be matched with, each with a weight from 1 to 100 (50 to start). You can keep 5 lists of up to 120 players each - one for another region, one for a kind of player - and one of them is active. Prefire keeps the heaviest players of the active list blocked on FACEIT, as many as your account allows. Switch the active list and your FACEIT blocklist follows it.
How many FACEIT allows. FACEIT doesn't say, so Prefire asks: on the settings page, under Blocklist & watch list, set Your FACEIT account to Free, Plus or Premium. Plus keeps 3 blocked and Premium 5; on Free, Prefire assumes 1. If FACEIT ever refuses a block anyway, Prefire believes FACEIT, lowers its number and says so in the activity log.
The blocks you already have are kept. The first time it runs, Prefire reads the matchmaking blocks already on your FACEIT account and makes them your first list, most recent first, so it manages what was there instead of fighting it. Nobody is unblocked to make that happen. Import my FACEIT blocks, on the settings page, does it again whenever you like.
Prefire only ever touches two kinds of block: those of players on your active list, and those it made itself. A block you made by hand, of someone on none of your lists, stays exactly as it is.
The rotation, while you queue
A player on your list who is already playing a match can't be matched with you, so their block is doing nothing. Rotate your blocklist frees that slot and blocks the next player down your list instead, then puts your list's own top players back when the queue ends.
- It starts as a dry run. With Dry run: only show what would change ticked - the default - it works out what it would do and changes nothing. Show what would change shows the plan whenever you like. Untick the dry run when the plan looks right.
- It's off until you turn it on, like every automation, and Pause automations in the toolbar popup stops it at once.
- At a person's pace. One change at a time, a few seconds apart, at most 4 a minute, 10 a queue and 30 an hour. Each change is checked against FACEIT right before it's made.
- It stops when a match is found and changes nothing while you play.
- Every change it makes is in the activity log in the popup, as it happens.
- It never goes over your limit: an unblock always comes before the block that takes its place.
It reads whether you're queueing from FACEIT's own page, and never touches the queue itself.
The panel on the matchmaking page
Above FACEIT's play button, Blocklist panel while you queue shows your active list as one list: who is blocked now, who is next by weight, who is in a match, and who has just finished one. Switch the active list there, add a player by nickname or by pasting their profile link, or remove one (with a moment to undo). Adding or removing changes your list, not FACEIT's blocklist: the rotation carries it out on its next pass.
Block and Watch in one click
Block (or Unblock) and Watch sit beside a player's name on their FACEIT profile, on each row of a finished match's scoreboard, and in the matchmaking panel for the players of your last match. They act only when you click them, and FACEIT's answer shows under the button. Block says how full your FACEIT blocklist is.
The watch list
Follow up to 50 players. The toolbar popup's Watch list tab shows each one with their FACEIT picture and what they're doing: in a match, with a link to the room, or finished one in the last ten minutes. Add players there by nickname, or with Watch on FACEIT. The extension checks them in the background, a few at a time, only while someone is on the list.
Watch notifications, off until you turn them on, sends one browser notification when a watched player starts a match, once per match; click it to open the room.
In the web app
Signed in at prefireapp.com/web, your lists are kept on Prefire's server too, so you can manage them from any browser and they follow you to another one:
- Blocklists (
/web/blocklists): make, rename and delete lists, set weights and order, and add or remove players. Add a player takes a FACEIT nickname or a profile link, shows the player with their FACEIT picture, and adds them at weight 50, which you can change; the extension picks them up on its next pass. You can still add players on faceit.com with the extension, too. A deleted list's players are unblocked by the extension on its next pass. - Watch list (
/web/watchlist): who is on it, a name for it, and removing players. What each of them is doing needs your own FACEIT session, which Prefire's server doesn't have, so this page doesn't say - the extension's Watch list tab does. Stop keeping this on Prefire deletes Prefire's copy and leaves the list in your browser.
If the same list changed in your browser and in the web app before they caught up, nothing is overwritten: the web app says Changed in two places and you choose Keep the browser's or Keep this one.
What Prefire keeps of a list is each player's FACEIT id and nickname, the weight you gave them, and the address of their FACEIT picture - never what any of them is doing. Signed out, nothing is sent and the lists stay in your browser. Settings & privacy has the details.
Sharing a list
- A blocklist by link, from the web app. Share, then Create link: anyone with it sees the list read-only, and anyone signed in to Prefire can Import to my lists as their own copy. The page says only that a Prefire user shared it, unless you tick Show my name. Stopping the link makes it stop working for everyone; copies already imported stay with whoever imported them.
- Any list as a file or a private link, from the extension. Share and import lists exports a list as a file, or as a link whose players sit after the
#- a part of the address your browser never sends - so that list never reaches Prefire's server. Importing either shows who would be added before anything is.
There's no public link for a watch list, on purpose: it would say who you follow.
The SuperMatches tab of live matches is still listed as Coming soon on the settings page: it waits on one more check against FACEIT.
